Timeless Design: How the Classic Designer Chairs Shape Seating Design

Decorating your home should be a fun and personal experience. While there are many easy ways to add a touch of colour when it comes to deciding how to layout the furniture, knowing which concept to choose over another can be an overwhelming task. While some homeowners stay clear from luxury furniture, others see its value for the added impression it makes to the space.

I have always been a person who wants a bit of luxury and I realised that if I want to add it to my everyday life, I need to start with my home. It all begin when I needed new chairs for my living room and I found a selection of designer chairs, an extensive range of styles, finishes and purposes to suit. They are great furniture pieces if you like introducing a new, fresh vibe to your home interior every now and then.

Why Choose Designer Seating

For those who are not caught up in the fast-fashion and quick consumer lifestyle, buying quality and timeless furniture pieces for their home is a worthwhile investment that pays off in the long term. They can certainly make a positive first impression on your visitors and give a high-end appeal. So, if you still haven’t considered investing in designer pieces, here are a few reasons that may change your mind.

Uniqueness

Designer furniture can bring an added feeling of uniqueness that mass-made furniture can’t. For me, it’s an alternative to the all-too-familiar and a mix of thoughtfulness and original talents that features an array of fabrics, textures, colours and finishes.

Maybe it’s a no-brainer, but for me, the main reason why I chose designer chairs was the actual design itself. They have a striking form as well as function and thanks to the hours spent planning the materials, angles and fixings of contemporary furniture are what really sets them apart from other chairs available on the market.

Comfort

The home is our personal retreat from the everyday world and it should always feel comfortable. For that reason, I like to choose furniture pieces that look good and will increase the comfort levels in different areas of my house. Given the fact that more time and attention to detail is invested in constructing designer seating solutions, the final result is a lot more relaxing chairs than any other.

Quality

Let’s be real, cheap furniture is not the kind you see handed down from one generation to another. Pieces that follow families through one decade to the next, like my mother-in-law’s rocking chair, are those that have been crafted with quality and durability in mind. In the end, it’s all about choosing durable pieces that can withstand time, like the modern rocking chair I used in my kids’ nursery and now I keep it in the bedroom, where it helps me relax before going to bed.

After a long and busy day, all I need is a comfy chair to sit and enjoy my tea ritual. You may have a different ritual for your relaxation time, including a cup of coffee or a glass of drink and whether you are looking for an accent piece in your living room or a cosy spot by the window, a designer chair can instantly upgrade the look and feel of any area of your home. Since it’s an interiors’ investment you don’t want to get wrong, here are a few tips that may help you make the right choice.

For the Living Room

Adding an armchair to my living room was the first step to including luxury furnishings into my home. I chose a designer piece, which instantly became the focal point of the room and tied the entire space together. Depending on your needs and preferences, you can find a chair that’s perfect to sit and relax, whether you want to read a book, scroll through social media newsfeeds or just lounge in.

An armchair is considered the most personal seating solution in the home. It should be cosy and visually appealing, so it can introduce both comfort and sophistication to your living space. Make sure to choose an armchair that reflects your style and personality. It doesn’t have to match your sofa but complement it, together with a carefully placed rug.

Different types of fabric can have a different effect on the overall atmosphere in your living room, so if you are working with a large space, a wooden armchair can be a great addition that adds warmth to the entire space and brings a lovely vibe to it. A velvet armchair, on the other hand, can bring an aura of elegance, while a linen armchair is a great choice if you want to create a laid-back feeling in the room.

For the Bedroom

As previously mentioned, I keep the rocking chair from my kids’ nursery in my bedroom now. While it’s my favourite spot in the entire house, it’s also a luxury item that gives the entire room a unique look and cosy vibe.

For the Dining Room

As one of the main social areas in every home, where you share food and precious moments with family and friends, the dining area should feel inviting and comfortable. I wanted to add some colour and interest into my dining room, without making the space feel overwhelmed, so I chose two upholstered armchairs and placed them at the heads of the table. Even though it seemed like a risky choice at first, it turned out to be the best decorative decision I’ve ever made.
