What Can You Do to Render Your Parking Lot More Appealing

Living in a large city like Melbourne or Sydney pretty much guarantees that you’ll experience the horrors of being stuck in traffic on regular basis. Whether the reason for the traffic is poor traffic regulation or an obnoxious driver, it doesn’t really matter – everyone is frustrated. But believe it or not, the main reasons for being late, for me at least, have always been finding an adequate space to park. I see a lot of parking lots that look like a dumpster and are empty most of the time, even though people do need a place to park, just because of the way they look. There are a few things that parking lot managers and operators can do to increase the profit they get, but they first need to invest some time and money into their business to make it look attractive to potential customers.

First things first, it has to be clean, period. Nobody wants to leave their car in a place that looks like a junk yard. Next, invest in some quality equipment like a traffic light controller and a ramp to make regulating the parking lot much more convenient and easy. And lastly, repair cracks, repaint the lines and make the parking lot accessible to people with special needs.

Repairing the cracks will prevent your customers’ vehicles from being damaged. Even the smallest cracks can become worse due to inclement weather and vehicle traffic. Address the current cracks in the parking lot and check for new ones every once in a while.

I mentioned a traffic light controller with traffic lights. Why? Because you can operate the ramp and the traffic lights themselves from the comfort of your own cabin during rush hour. A free-flowing traffic in and out of the parking lot can save you money and nerves. Traffic lights that are meant for parking lots come in either one or two aspects, meaning they’re extremely simple, yet very functional. So even if you’re not very tech-savvy you can easily operate them.

Making the parking lot accessible to people with special needs will encourage them and their family and friends to use your parking lot instead of the one down the road which doesn’t promote those values. Even though your business is open to everyone, people with special needs may feel discouraged or left out if there isn’t a spot reserved for them. As a rule of thumb, for every 20 to 25 spots you have, you should have at least 2 spots reserved for people with special needs.
