When Men Decorate: How I Created My Masculine Bedroom

When it comes to home décor, I’m a man who believes in simple elegance. Colorful and excessively embellished residences don’t impress me much, as they can feel a bit overwhelming. If you ask me, truly talented interior designers are those who can find a way to create a beautiful whole with just a few pieces (carefully chosen ones, of course). That’s precisely what my bedroom design idea is based on.

I, just like many single men, wanted my bedroom to ooze masculinity and comfort. Here’s what I opted for in order to accomplish this.

Furniture

Since the bed is the most important piece of the bedroom puzzle, I didn’t hesitate to splurge on it. I bought the mattress, the box spring, and the bed frame individually. Since I struggle to find a comfortable sleeping position almost every night, I decided to purchase a memory foam mattress. The bed frame I chose is made from grey faux leather.

As wooden furniture pieces are both simple and stylish, I selected two sleek white oak bedside tables and a dark grey chest of drawers. Grey is the dominant hue in my bedroom because it screams masculinity and serenity.

Window Treatments

With the help of a professional interior designer, I realized that roller blinds are the ideal window coverings for my bedroom. Roller blinds are minimalist, chic, and extremely functional. I opted for motorized roller blinds because they offer perfect light control. If you ask me, motorized roller blinds are one of the best bedroom window treatments because with their help one can easily block the sun and create a relaxing ambience needed for a pleasant afternoon rest.

In case you didn’t know, there are many amazing types of roller blinds, but blockout roller blinds are possibly the most popular one (especially for bedrooms). Why? Well, simply because they’re fashionable, versatile, simple to operate, and can provide complete privacy and excellent insulation.

Lighting Products

As I mentioned above, my bedroom walls are dark grey. Since a dark grey (or any other dark hue for that matter) can eat up a large portion of light in the space, I decided to place two minimalist wall lamps above my bed, lots of downlights, and a tasteful crystal chandelier that adds luxury to the room.

Accessories

In order to add character to my bedroom, I displayed some of my dearest photographs with my friends and family and hanged a few of my favorite watercolor paintings on my bedroom walls. I also incorporated a couple of interesting stone sculptures and lots of white and light blue throw pillows.
