A Glimpse Into My Garage: The Outdoor Power Tools I Own

There was a time when I couldn’t imagine myself as a gardener, but today looking after my lawn, shrubs, and fruit trees is one of my favorite outdoor activities. At the end of a long and stressful workweek, spending time in my yards (both front and back) is all I need to clear my mind and relax. I bet I’m not the only one who experiences gardening this way.

Yes, gardening is a wonderful pastime and mind-body workout. However, in order to reap all the amazing benefits it yields, one must own certain gardening tools and items of outdoor power equipment (a lawn mower, a hedge trimmer, and a leaf blower). In this article, I will focus solely on the outdoor power tools I own as they are much more expensive than trowels, hand forks, long-handled hoes, pruners, watering cans, hoses, and gloves.

A Walk-Behind Lawn Mower

Lawn mowers are must-have items of outdoor power equipment. Since my lawn is mid-sized, I opted for a walk-behind (or hand-pushed) petrol lawn mower. I know that petrol models can be a bit tricky when it comes to starting and refueling, but they usually have a wide cutting diameter of 45 to 50 cm, which is precisely why I purchased one (my daily schedule is extremely busy, so spending less time mowing the lawn means more time for relaxation and fun, especially during the weekends).

If you have a small-sized lawn (50 square metres or less) and want to avoid petrol lawn mowers, then I advise you to consider buying an electric lawn mower because these models are really easy to run and maintain. Plus, they don’t produce dangerous fumes like petrol ones do.

An Electric Hedge Trimmer

Hedge trimmers are extremely useful outdoor tools. With their help, one can free up space in their garden and keep their bushes, shrubs, and hedges neat and trim. I chose an electric hedge trimmer because my garden isn’t extremely large (so I don’t have to worry about the cord) and also because I trim my shrubs and bushes occasionally.

If your yard is home to many bushes and shrubs, you might want to give cordless hedge trimmers a chance for with a cordless model you won’t have to worry about straying too far from the power source.

An Electric Leaf Blower

As you may probably already know, leaf blowers are versatile blowing machines that can come in handy during the whole year. I opted for an electric model because electric leaf blowers are lighter and quieter than lawn vacuums and lawn sweepers.
